The Zone Diet is based on the principle that our genes have changed
very little during the past 100,000 years.
The idea is that our digestive systems operate best when eating to
main food groups:
- Lean Protien
- Natural Carbohydrates (fruits and fiber rich vegetables)
There are four key elements to the program:
- The Zone diet
- The use monounsaturated fats
- Supplementation Omega-3 fish oils
- Exercise.
There is no math, calorie or carb counting involved. Portions are simply
measured by using your hand as a guide; protein should be the size of
the palm of your hand, carbohydrates should be the size of your fist.
Meals are eaten five times per day.
